This Corp of Eng. (COE) CG on Philpot Lake about 10 miles outside Bassett on Rte 57 and another 5 miles back on Goose Point Road.
The last 5 miles are challenging.. many twists and blind curves - be very careful . Sites in Loop C are best for larger RVs. Loop B looks like tents only - very steep and tight turns - don't go up there in your RV without checking it first. Loop A is highest elevation in CG. Some 5th Wheels & Class A's were up in this loop - but we think it had to be tough getting into their spots.
Though Loop C is best for larger RVs, it still has challenging areas - posts exist throughout the CG making it difficult to navigate. $21/night, water, 20/30/50 amp, dump station.
Our satellite blocked by trees but we did get many local stations with our antenna booster. Even with a few driving challenges - this place is worth it. Just gorgeous -- clean, quiet, spacious. You can actually see the lake from every site in this section even ones on the inside of the loop. Bathhouses - immaculate. We love it here and have reservations for mid October - hope the fall colors wait for us. Make reservations through Reserve USA and early - this place is booked every weekend - I made reservations for our Oct trip in Jan. and this stay in May was mid-week.
Pics (l-r) First 2 of our site (#18), 3rd the tight turn we had to make, last the view from our site.
