This is a Corp.of Eng (COE) campground about 6 miles from Boydton, VA. Heavily wooded and lakefront sites throughout the CG - many with W&E (20/30/50 amp) though most of the lakefront sites do not have hookups. All are spacious - but Loop D has the widest sites and many are lakefront - but no hookups exist here. Paved roads throughout the park and campsites were hard packed with gravel in spots that looked like it had been there a long time. We had a hard rain one day and our site did not flood. We noticed drainage areas out the back of many sites. Slight slope exists to aid this. We stayed in B loop as this where most of the W&E sites exist. Paved bike trails exist between Loop A,B and C but stop before the bridge to Loop D. Beaches exist in each loop. The Day Use beach (A) - is particularly nice. No one was there at this beach during our stay - but if we spent the day at the beach - we'd choose this one. Huge fire pits, tall fixed stone tables and most picnic tables have stone tops and seats (your not moving those picnic tables - not easily anyway). $20/night water 20/30/50 amp, satellite did not work - but we did get several local stations w/our antenna booster. The bike trails are wonderful - just a picture perfect CG. The park hosts - the most friendly folks we have ever met at any CG. Make reservations through Reserve USA. This campground fills up quickly on the weekend - so make reservations early in the year. Pics (l-r) 1st 2 our site (#96), the bike trail, and Loop A beach.
